It was a very good week for underage football in the club. On Monday evening our U.16 team travelled to Scarden and had a comprehensive victory over Curry to claim the A Championship title to put alongside the League title that they won earlier in the year. They also created their own piece of club history by being the first underage team to win back to back titles in League and Championship. The final score was 4.14 to 0.12 pts. Afterwards the cavalcade of cars headed to Killaraght, the home of team captain Marcus Meehan where we were met by supporters and friends in front of a blazing bonfire. The procession of cars continued via Monasteraden into Gurteen where refreshments were served in Gurteen Hall. Congrats to an excellent team effort managed by Shaun Dorrian, Neil Molloy, Paul Dwyer and Sean Scott.  Three days later our U.14 team made the short journey to Bunninadden to play Tubbercurry /Cloonacool in the final of the B Championship. Playing excellent football courtesy of the coaching and management skills of John Bruen and Peter Walsh we ran out deserving winners by 3.17 to 1.09. Another great victory and Diarmuid Higgins had the honour of accepting the cup. For the second time this year Ballinafad had an underage captain of a victorious Harps team.  The other captain was of course Tomas Taheny who led the U.16 boys to victory in the League. We wish to thank Kevin and Brid Higgins for sponsoring the refreshments in the picnic basket. The team and management are also very appreciative of the playing gear they received prior to the final. Many thanks to Shane Gallagher and Drury oil for this sponsorship. Finally the club would like to thank all supporters for making the journey to both venues to cheer on the lads.

On Sunday our Senior team bowed out of this years championship after defeat to Tourlestrane on a score line of 3:13 to 0:06 points in the semi final. On a blustery day in Markievicz Park our lads never got going and were beaten by the better team on the day. On Saturday our junior men also lost their semi final to Tourlestrane. This brings an end to the senior mens football and we would like to thank both sets of management and players for all their hard work and dedication.
