Senior Championship Round 2 Geevagh V Eastern Harps
Round 2 of the Sligo Ladies Senior Championship took place on Sunday last, July 24th and saw Eastern Harps make the trip to Geevagh to take on the 2015 Champions.
It was the home side who took control from the start scoring a couple of quick goals as well as some excellent points. Harps took a while to settle into the game and though they had chances, they will not be happy with some of the wides they kicked. The Harps defence began to get to grips with the Geevagh attack and some excellent pressure forced the home side into some wayward shooting. A few scores from harps before half time kept them in the game as they regrouped for the second half.
The second half saw Harps up their performance and though Geevagh picked off some fine scores Harps kept going and took some excellent scores of their own. In what was a very entertaining and hard fought second half the more experienced home side did enough to hold off any thoughts Harps had of causing an upset. The final score was Geevagh 4-11 Eastern Harps 1-12. Harps will be happy with their workrate overall with some excellent displays throughout the team. Next up for them is a home game in round 3 against St Nathys.
