Club Notes 22 August 2016 - 21/08/2016

This is a big week for our underage football teams. First up on Monday evening our U16 lads host Shamrock Gaels in the semi-final of the A Championship in what is a repeat of the League final played earlier in the year. On Thursday Easkey are the visitors to Keash when their minor team play us in the quarter final of the A Championship. Then on Friday it’s the turn of the u.14 boys as they welcome Coolers/Strandhill in the semi-final of the B Championship. All games have a throw in time of 7pm and all support would be greatly appreciated.

Our senior men play their championship quarter final against Tubbercurry on Sunday at 6.15pm in Bunninadden.

Our Juniors beat Curry on a score line of 2:08 to 1:04 in the first round of their Championship. Goals scored by Declan Hannon and John Lynch with top performances from Ciaran McGovern and Paul McGill.

The tremendous work been done by our Healthy Club has been acknowledged by a letter from the President of Cumann Lúthchleas Gael Aogán Ó Fearghaíl. Well done to all involved over the past number of years.

Jimmy McArdle, originally from Belfast and now living in Massachusettes, USA recently launched a CD in Drurys bar with the a title song called “So haunted by Strandhill” which is in memory of Bobby Taylor, Tommy Coyle and Michael Higgins. They are on sale in Tanseys Centra, The Coleman Centre,The Crossbar, The Post Office, Higgins Bar, Wards, Macs, Cartys Post Office, The Mayfly and Drury's plus several other places throughout the county.
