OT Blog No. 3 - Lough Key Parkrun - 22/01/2017

Thanks to Helen Gray for the report on Saturday's Parkrun (or walk):

What a beautiful morning it was in Lough Key Forest Park. As we drove into the park the grass was white and crisp and the frosty fog was on the lake. A huge number turned out in force today to run, jog or walk the 5k parkrun. A total of 335 not including four legged creatures took the route today some did it twice; I was not one of them!!!!!!!!

It was so lovely to see people of all ages and families and friends take the route. The volunteers were out to show us the way and give everyone along the way moral support. Some made it home in no time the others weren’t far behind. Isn’t it lucky that the event happens every Saturday morning.

It’s not all about getting fit and healthy for OT, but the social side is an important part of it as well. Meeting new people, people you haven’t met in quite some time, having a laugh on a regular basis, seeing family members that you might not necessary get to see every week. Having Fun while trying to get fit and hopefully lose weight at the end of it.

The  Lough Key Parkrun is a lovely setting for a 5k run, jog or walk , hail, rain or shine…….
