Inaccurate journalism by Sligo Weekender
<< Go Back

A very questionable piece of journalism appeared in the Sligo Weekender over the Christmas period, which included a reference to incidents following an Eastern Harps U16 boys match versus Shamrock Gaels in August 2016. The piece unfairly and totally inaccurately showed us in a bad light and we wish to right the wrong, or at least, expose the wrong!

Our players, coaches and supporters acted in an exemplary way on this occasion, despite being placed in an unenviable situation not of our making. Any report that this wasn't the case is totally untrue and this fact was backed up by a County Board investigation which found that no members of our club had any case to answer.

We are most disappointed at such an unjustified vilification of our Club in local press, and even more disheartened at their failure to properly and adequately acknowledge their error and issue a full retraction and apology.
