Kerry McKeon essay writing competition 2020 - 10/06/2020

We are once again delighted to launch the Kerry McKeon essay writing competition 2020, for the youngsters in the Eastern Harps area. Normally the competition is run through the national schools in the area but due to school closures, we have decided to run it through the club’s underage teams this year.

The competition will be broken into 4 categories (under 6, under 8, under 10 and under 12). It is a great opportunity for the boys and girls living within the Eastern Harps club to explore their creative side.

The Kerry McKeon perpetual trophy was won last year by Adam Murray from Carn National school. The runner-up for last year was Cillian Duggan from Keash National School. The competition is going from strength to strength each year and we are looking forward to increasing this further in 2020.

We have decided to expand the age group involved in this year’s competition to give more people the chance to get involved. We will have a winner from each age group who will each receive a prize, along with the overall winner and runner up.

This years essay title is “My Summer so Far” with a total word count of 400 max. The essay can be typed or written on any type of paper, copybook or A4 sheets. Closing date is Friday 26th June 2020.

Please ensure that essays are submitted on or before that date. Please add your name and age group with your entry.

An essay can be submitted via e-mail to mikeyog7@yahoo.com or hard copies can be posted to the following address: Mikey O’Grady, Shroof, Monasteraden, Co. Sligo. The essays will be independently judged by an external examiner. Any queries concerning the competition, please contact Mikey O’Grady by phone on 0861971807.
